Where to begin...

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, I have always been very close with my family. I have one sibling, my brother Taylor, who is an Honor Student at Capital University in Columbus and Senator Brown's youngest intern. Taylor and I are very different being that we are four years apart in age.

My parents, Steve and Mariann are retired teachers from our state's public schools system. Academic excellence and setting scholastic goals was instilled in me at a very early age, and reiterated as my learning years continue. At one point, I actually walked the halls of the school that both of my parents worked. It was an on-going joke that my parents would know my grades before I did. Actually, it wasn't a joke, it was the truth!

I graduated high school as an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. At CHCA, I played Varsity Basketball and Volleyball, performed in all the musicals and was a member of the performing choir, Encore.

Upon my graduation from high school, I attended Elon University in North Carolina. At Elon I was a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Music Theater. I will admit juggling my Music Theater and Broadcast Journalism courses was one of the toughest challenges I faced during my undergraduate studies.

My summers in college were spent traveling around the country with a highly-respected pageant system, the National American Miss pageant. One of the great things about NAM is that they encourage young ladies to excel in their scholastic goals, their volunteerism, and they help to build a confidence that some children never find.

Today, I am a graduate student at Mississippi State University in their Broadcast Meteorology program. After I complete graduate work, I hope to pursue a career as a Meteorologist.

When I reflect on the path that my life has traveled on, I attribute much of my personal success to the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program and the Miss America Organization. My Miss America participation began in 2003. My mom also competed while she was in college so my pageant experience has always been one that I can share with her. Through the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program and the Miss America Program I have obtained nearly $12,000 in scholarship money.

This will be my fifth and final trip to the Miss Ohio stage and win or lose I know I have an exciting year ahead of me as Miss Mansfield. I am so excited and grateful to be representing the city of Mansfield at the 2009 Miss Ohio Scholarship Program!
